Beer For Wedding Celebration

by jvetter 7. September 2008 15:27

As most of you know I am getting married soon. Some time after we get married we are having a party to celebrate the marriage with our friends, because the wedding is a small ceremony with family only. I would like to get 2-3 sixtels (1/6 keg) of good beer for the party but I'm really not sure what I should get. I would like to get some REALLY good stuff that you might not find all the time. The sixtels make sense because if there are left overs I can easily tap or store them at home.

So I need your help. Yes that means you!! I really should be placing the orders soon, so I need some suggestions. Let me list a couple that come to mind for me:

  • Dogfish 60/90/120
  • Ommegang 3 Philosophers
  • Victory Hop Wallup/Old Horizontal
  • Stone Levitation/Ruination/Cali-Belgique
  • Bear Republic, Troegs, Lagunitas, Rogue, Southern Tier, Weyerbacher, Sierra Nevada?
  • Something Belgian??

Thanks for your help!

I'll look at the sixtels at pikes creek.  There must be forty of them.  Right now I have the dry hopped St. Rogue Red on tap.  It's very good drinking.  When does nugget nectar come out.  I know I had a sixtel of it last year.  I could also bring the Weyerbacher fresh hop ale.  My recommendation is something hoppy and something belgium.  Bullfrog has some belgium sixtels but we'd have to go to the taproom to try them.  See you in a couple of weeks.

Nugget Nectar is listed as a Feburary release. I would have loved to have that but unfortunately its not in season.

Seems to me that blended beers would be fitting for a wedding. So DogFish Burton's Baton and Avery Collaboration come to mind as 2-parters.

Hah, googled this too: New Caledonian "Golden Promise"!

Some sort of Octoberfest would be appropriate to the time of year.

Also, blended beer would be appropriate to the event. Binary blends preferred. So something like Dogfish Burton's Baton or Avery Collaboration would be good.
